Water chemistry
Well and Irrigation Water, and Hardness
City water is not well water. Irrigation water is not the same as properly balanced pool water. Find out about the water you add to better understand how it can affect your pool.

A lot of Virginians do not drink city water at the hose bib. Wells and irrigation water from automatic fills and hoses change hardness and pH. Tidewater Care tests the water in the pool after the fill water is added, so the pool stays in balance.
What makeup water does
You lose water to evaporation, splash, and backwash. What you add becomes the pool, slowly. Hard well water scales heaters and salt cells. Soft or acidic water is a different problem. Neither is “fine because it looked clear in the bucket.”
Where this shows up
Every place in Virginia is unique. Larger lots, wells, and longer equipment runs can all put untreated water into the pool and change the chemistry. We record what we find so the next visit is not a surprise, and so we stay ahead of the curve.
What we do not do
We do not assume last week’s numbers remained the same. We do not treat a well fill like a Virginia Beach city tap. We do not sell a generic mystery chemical program in place of a test.
If the chemistry balance will not hold, start with what went in. Inquire about service.
