Tidewater Care

The services that keep your pool ready.

Every service below says what we do, and why that work matters for the pool. You can book one of them on its own, or talk with us about Essential, Signature, or Estate for the swim season.

Ongoing care

These visits are the regular work of Tidewater Care. Essential, Signature, and Estate change how often we come and how much of the year we carry. The work on the visit is the same standard.

A Care visit

What we do. We look over the pool, test the water before we change anything, check the equipment, do the surface work for your Care level, watch the water level, and adjust the chemistry from the readings we wrote down. Essential is skim, brush, and chemistry, weekly, every other week, or monthly. We do not vacuum the floor. Signature and Estate add vacuum on the week of service.

Why it matters. Chemistry and equipment change a little every week. A visit on a schedule keeps those changes small, so you can enjoy your pool instead of recovering it after a problem has had time to grow.

Annual inspection

What we do. Once a year we review the pool surface, the tile, the coping, where the deck meets the pool, the equipment, and the safety equipment we can see. We take photos you can compare later.

Why it matters. A fitting that is starting to weep, or a part that is wearing out, is easier to plan for when you see it before it fails in the middle of the swim season.

Opening, closing, and winter

Virginia still freezes, and spring still brings pollen and leaves. These services are the start and the end of the swim season.

Pool opening

What we do. The opening is the pool only. We take the cover off, clear the debris, start the equipment, balance the water, clean the filter, and inspect the equipment so the pool is ready for pollen season.

Why it matters. A pool that sat all winter does not start clean because the weather turned warm. Opening in this order keeps a winter of debris out of the system and gives you a season that starts ready to swim.

Learn more

Pool closing and winterizing

What we do. The closing is the pool only. We set the winter water level and the chemistry, protect the equipment from a freeze, put the cover on, and leave notes and photos.

Why it matters. Water left in unprotected lines and equipment can split them in a hard freeze. A close done on purpose is what makes spring an opening, not a repair.

Learn more

Winter watch

What we do. We check the pool while it is closed.

Why it matters. A cover that fills with water, or a problem that starts in January, should be caught in winter. Waiting until spring turns a small check into a longer opening.

Learn more

Opening and closing only

What we do. We open the pool in spring and close it in the fall. There are no weekly visits in between.

Why it matters. Some owners want to handle the weeks they swim, and still want a technician for the two jobs that set up the season and protect the pool through winter.

Water

You can book these without a Care level. They also sit beside Essential, Signature, or Estate when the water needs more than the regular visit.

One-time full clean

What we do. We skim, brush, vacuum, and balance the water. You do not need a Care level.

Why it matters. After a trip, a storm, or a few weeks on your own, one thorough clean puts the pool back. You do not have to take a Care level to get that visit.

Green-to-clean recovery

What we do. When the water has turned green or fallen out of balance, we work it back toward ready to swim.

Why it matters. Green water is living growth, not one chemical adjustment. The longer it sits, the more the filter loads and the harder the recovery becomes. Starting while it is still early keeps a bad week from becoming a bad month.

Learn more

Chemical-only visit

What we do. We test the water and balance it. This visit does not include a full cleaning.

Why it matters. If the pool is already clean and the readings have drifted, the job is the chemistry. A full cleaning would be the wrong visit.

Learn more

Filter, equipment, and leaks

Clear water depends on the equipment as much as the chemistry. These visits are for the parts of the pool you do not swim in.

Filter deep-clean

What we do. We open the filter and clean what is inside it. This is more than the rinse or backwash on a regular visit. It is its own service on every Care level.

Why it matters. A filter that is packed with debris cannot clear the water, even when the chemistry is right. The pump works harder, and the pool stays dull. Cleaning what is inside the filter is what lets the water polish again.

Learn more

Extra visit

What we do. We come between your regular visits when something cannot wait until the next one.

Why it matters. A noisy pump, a cloudy day after a storm, or a water level that dropped should not sit on the calendar. An extra visit keeps a small problem from becoming the next recovery.

Learn more

Diagnostic visit

What we do. Something has failed or looks wrong. We come look at that system, tell you what you can handle yourself, and write the next step.

Why it matters. Replacing a part before anyone looks spends the repair on a guess. A visit that tells you what is actually happening is how you choose the next step.

Learn more

Leak detection

What we do. If the pool is losing water and you do not know why, we look and write what we find. We do not call it a structural problem from a note.

Why it matters. Unexplained water loss keeps using water and chemicals until someone finds where it is going. Looking first keeps you from treating a leak as a chemistry problem.

Spa, features, and other work

These are not part of the pool opening, the pool closing, or ordinary balancing. Each one is its own visit.

Spa on its own system

What we do. A spa that shares the pool equipment is part of the one pool closing. A spa with its own equipment is its own opening, its own closing, and its own in-season care.

Why it matters. Folding a separate spa into the pool opening leaves that system unstarted, or closed wrong. Keeping it separate is how both are done completely.

Learn more

Water feature

What we do. We clean, open, or close the feature you asked about. A glance during the pool equipment check is not that work.

Why it matters. A feature has its own pump and its own lines. Leaving it inside the pool opening or the pool closing is how it gets missed.

Learn more

Phosphate treatment

What we do. We treat phosphates we have measured. This is not part of ordinary balancing.

Why it matters. Phosphates feed growth. Treating them only after a test keeps us from adding product the water does not need.

Learn more

Metal treatment

What we do. We bind metals we have measured. Lifting a stain beyond that is its own visit.

Why it matters. Metals stain the surface and the equipment. Treating a number we have not measured is a guess.

Learn more

Waterline detail

What we do. A closer cleaning of the tile and calcium at the waterline, after we have seen it.

Why it matters. A regular brush keeps the week in order. A built-up waterline needs its own time, and it should be scoped after someone has looked at it.

Learn more

Cover-system service

What we do. We look at a cover system that is not operating as it should. Looking at a cover during an equipment check is not this visit.

Why it matters. A cover that will not travel, or will not seal, is an equipment problem. It needs a look before anyone orders parts.

Learn more

Pre-sale condition report

What we do. A written report of the pool’s condition for a sale. You are not obliged to book a repair.

Why it matters. A buyer and a seller need a document, not a verbal walk-around. The annual inspection is a different visit. This report does not replace it.

Learn more

Drain, clean, and acid wash

What we do. We drain, clean, and acid-wash the pool only when the surface warrants it.

Why it matters. An acid wash is hard on a pool. Doing it every season, or because the water looked dull for a week, wears the surface for no reason.

Learn more

When it cannot wait

Some problems should not wait for the next regular visit. We do not promise to be available at every hour. We will tell you when we can be there.

Emergency service

What we do. We come look when equipment has stopped, is leaking, or will not clear an error. When a heater will not run. When the pool is losing water and you do not know why. When the water has turned and cannot wait. When a cover or a circulation problem makes the pool unsafe to use.

Why it matters. These are the problems that get worse if they sit until the next scheduled day. If you smell gas, or you see sparking at the equipment, leave it alone and call your utility or 911. Then call us about the pool.
