Swim season
Freeze Protection That Is More Than a Cover
A cover thrown on in November is not the same thing as closing the pool. Equipment and water level will all be affected by a freeze that still arrives in Virginia every year.
A mild November does not mean January will be tropical. Tidewater Care winterizes equipment in preparation for this expected weather. A cover-only close is not a real close and leaves your pool open to serious damage.
What a freeze actually does
Water that sits in unprotected lines and equipment can split them. The oceanfront freeze is later and often shorter than inland nights. Albemarle and Loudoun do not get a Beach sticker calendar.
What a real close includes
- Chemistry set for the idle season
- Filter cleaned so you are not trapping a summer of organics under the cover
- Water level set for the cover you actually have
- Equipment winterized
- Cover on, and a plan to check it after storms
If you stay open
Some pools stay open late. That is a choice, not neglect. Circulation, chemistry, and a freeze plan still must be ready if weather comes unexpectedly. A pool left on a summer setting into a hard cold night is how you start a repair conversation in February.
Close on purpose. Schedule seasonal care.
