Filter Pressure — When to Clean, When to Look Further
The gauge is telling you something. A rising number is normal work. A number that never moves is a different problem.
Every Care visit includes a look at filter pressure against the baseline we recorded on your pad. Without a baseline, the gauge is just a number.
What a rising gauge means
The filter is doing work. Pollen, silt, swimmers, and leaves will load it. Clean or backwash when pressure has risen noticeably above clean. Then mark the new clean number if you changed something.
What a stuck gauge means
If pressure never changes, the filter may not be filtering, the gauge may be dead, or circulation may be bypassing. That is a diagnosis, not a bigger scoop of diatomaceous earth.
After pollen and storms
Virginia will load a filter in a week that would take a month in a dry climate. If the water is dull and the pressure is up, clean first. If the water is dull and the pressure is not up, look at chemistry and the pump.
We photograph the gauge. Next week’s technician is not starting from memory. Inquire about service.
